Variations on a theme: Foot operated shower

This item is pretty well self-explanatory.  It turns out that the same principle as the foot operated handwash station, can quite successfully operate a shower.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAFor our test, we have used the same bladder pump described for the handwash station, but it would be worth while attempting to replicate that structure with a 4″ (100 mm) lay-flat hose instead of the 3″ (75 mm) version used for the handwash, and with a slightly less constricting shower head.  We’ll report on that experiment when we get around to it, but in the meanwhile this looks like it might also be very easily and economically adapted for bathing stations in an IDP camps, etc.
